League leaders Stranraer are the first footers to Somerset Park on Saturday, as Ayr United look to put a disappointing 2014 behind them and start 2015 with a win.
Caretaker boss Andy Millen will again take the side, who dropped to ninth place following the defeat to Airdrieonians last Saturday.
United are without a win in their last eight games at Somerset Park and have taken just one point from a possible 24 in the league since wining away at Morton in October.
Stranraer’s defeat last weekend ended a run of four consecutive league wins and was their first in 13 league matches. The Blues are unbeaten in their last 8 league matches away from home.
Head-to-Head (all competitions):
Ayr United wins – 48
Draws – 11
Stranraer wins – 22
The last five meetings between the sides have averaged 4.8 goals per game.
Last Meeting: Jon-Paul McGovern opened the scoring in the ninth minute when the sides last met at Stair Park in November but a Craig Malcolm double either side of half-time and a Daniel Stoney goal earned Stranraer the victory. The Blues were also 2-0 winners at Somerset Park in September.
On this day: Ayr’s last played on the 3rd January in 2005 when goals from Paddy Connolly and Andy Ferguson earned a 2-1 win over Morton at Somerset Park. The Honest Men have lost just one of their last 11 games played on this date.
