Season Ticket Loans

We are delighted to announce a new partnership for the club with 1st Alliance (Ayrshire) Credit Union.

Starting immediately our supporters can sign up with 1st Alliance and will be given the opportunity to start saving straight away and have an option to take a loan out covering the cost of a season ticket for the 2016/17 season and also the new home top if required.

This gives our fans the option of spreading the cost over a period of time whilst also giving them access to a one stop local service that offers secure savings, attractive loan packages, pre paid debit card and a transparent bank account.

The first part of the process will be to become a member with 1st Alliance which you can do by contacting their office on 01294 557 123 and asking for an application form or visit their website at www.allianceayrshire.co.uk

The credit union are holding an information day at the Ally MacLeod hospitality suite between 10am and 3pm on Friday 29th January. Come along and find out for yourself the benefits of the credit union and with the relevant ID and proof of address you can sign up on the day.

1st Alliance Partnership Manager Craig Potter, who trained as a YTS at Somerset PArk said :”We want to make the cost of watching football affordable for everyone. Fans who become members with us will have the option to take a loan to pay for their season tickets. Everyone will be looked at on an individual basis and we will be encouraging people to save towards their season ticket. Members will then have full access to a number of other services that we offer.”

Commercial manager Graeme Miller said :”This is something the fans have wanted for years, the option to be able to pay a season ticket on a monthly basis. I met Craig Potter from 1st Alliance at the Ayrshire Connections event and within minutes we realised we could have something that would hugely benefit both parties. We’re really excited about the partnership and hopefully it will encourage more fans to snap up season tickets. Liverpool have a similar scheme with the Spirit of Shankly supporters union which works very well however we believe this is the first initiative of this kind in Scotland.”

Cowdenbeath match preview

Match Preview
Cowdenbeath vs. Ayr United
Ladbrokes League 1
Saturday 16th January 2016

After a weekend without a game, Ayr United return to action on Saturday when Cowdenbeath are the visitors to Somerset Park. The Honest Men have lost five of their last six games in all competitions but remain in second position in the table, five points clear of Peterhead in third and will be looking to use home advantage to earn all three points.

Cowdenbeath were in action at the weekend, making the trip to Ibrox to face Rangers in the Scottish Cup on Sunday. There was to be no shock, however, as the Light Blues eased to a 5-1 win over the Blue Brazil. Cowden’s win over Ayr 17 days ago was their fourth-a-row but they have since lost 2-1 in Fife Derby at Dunfermline. They occupy seventh position in the league table, four points off the promotion play-off spots.

Colin Nish has moved to strengthen his squad in recent weeks, adding goalkeepers Alin Roman and Grant Adams, Partick Thistle youngster David McDaid but have lost striker Gordon Smith and influential on-loan Rangers midfielder Andy Murdoch. Cowdenbeath have also been linked with striker Ross Caldwell following his departure from Somerset Park.

Head-to-Head (at Somerset Park):
Ayr United wins – 34
Draws – 5
Cowdenbeath wins – 11

United have outscored the Blue Brazil 119-54 in home games against the sides.

Last Meeting: honours are even between the sides this season. Cowdenbeath were defeated 5-0 on their last trip to Somerset Park in October. Jordan Preston netted less than 60 seconds into the game and Alan Forrest, Gerry McLauchan, Brian Gilmour and Craig Moore were also on the scoresheet.

There was another early goal for the Honest Men when the sides met at Central Park at the end of December but Colin Nish’s side responded to Ross Caldwell’s 2nd minute opener with three first-half goals. Jordan Preston made it 3-2 on hour mark but it was only consolation, with the Blue Brazil going on to win 4-2.

On this day: United’s last match on this date was a Scottish Cup replay against Inverness Caledonian Thistle, broadcast live on Sky Sports on Monday night ten years ago. Goalkeeper Mark McGeown was sent-off after 35 minutes and the Highlanders put two goals past Eric Phillips to knock United out of the competition.

Adams signs deal

Jamie Adams has signed a new deal up until the end of this 2015/16 season.

Manager Ian McCall said :”We are delighted to get Jamie signed up until the end of the season. He has been a huge player for us this season and a massive miss when he isn’t playing. He should be back within the next fortnight. I didn’t think he would get into the swing of things as quickly as he did this season however I know the ability that he has and he is a big, big player for us. Jamie and I both see the potential to have him here longer term and we need to get a training programme in place to fit him.

“There is still the potential for us to get another 1 or 2 in however I don’t like to talk about them until the deal is actually done. Jordan’s deal is up on Monday and we are deep in negotiations with Blackburn to get that extended and will update as soon as anything happens.”

Players released

Striker Ross Caldwell and long serving centre half Martyn Campbell have been released from their contracts.

Manager Ian McCall said :”Ross has done well in patches for us and scored some good goals however we felt with the options we have it would be best for both parties if he moved on.

Martyn has been a fantastic servant for the club and it was great to see him have his well deserved testimonial events. With his work commitments at the moment he is just not able to commit to training and again we felt it was best all round for Martyn to move on, most likely he will now join a junior club to play on Saturdays.

Both players leave with our very best wishes for the future and a thank you for their efforts while here.”
