About Ayr United Footbal Club
Manager
Brian Reid was appointed Ayr United manager in October 2007 following the resignation of previous boss Neil Watt.
Reid, 37, is embarking on his first journey into management at Somerset Park after enjoying a lengthy playing career which took him to the heights of the Scottish game.
Brian was a man of many clubs and spent five years in the dressing room at Ibrox while on the books at Rangers.
His career also took in Morton, Burnley, Dunfermline, Blackpool, Falkirk, Queen of the South and then Ayr, where he finished his playing days.
Brian got a brief taste of management in season 2005/2006 when, along with fellow player Mark McGeown, he took temporary charge of the first team while the club searched for a new manager.
It was a hugely successful spell and Brian came close to landing the job on a permananent basis at that time.
When the club were forced to search for another manager just seven months later, Reid was quickly installed in the hot seat and given his chance to shine.
After achieving promotion to the Barrs Irn_Bru Scottish 1st division at the end of his first year in charge Brian accepted a new 1 year deal that saw him come on board as manager in a full time capacity.
