Ayr United Football Club Community
Anti-Racism Policy
The Ten Point Action Plan Against Racism in Football, commonly known as the UEFA Ten Point Plan, was developed by Football Against Racism in Europe (FARE) and adopted by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA).
It set out ten measures that national associations and clubs should adopt as the framework for action to challenge racism.
Ayr United's response to this was to adopt and implement the following policy:
- Issue a press release condemning racism and stating that:
- anyone found to participate in such chanting will be ejected from the ground by stewards and police and BANNED from Somerset Park
- Organize a Show Racism the Red Card action day at a home game at the start of the season
- New advertising board condemning racism to be displayed at the ground
- Statement in some match programmes AND club website - Ask Ferguson Media to organize a tape/CD to be played before the game and during half time condemning racism and advising of the action that will be taken
- Advert on the opening pages of every season ticket book promoting our support of the 10 point plan and reminding supporters of their responsibilities
- Engage a meeting with the club, police and stewards to firm up our policy and ensure all parties are clear as to the actions to be taken in such circumstances and ensure that no racist literature is handed out in or outside the ground
- Establish and provide a training package for Ayr United players at all levels, including youths. Any player thereafter found guilty of participating in racial abuse will be subject to strict disciplinary procedures
- Circulate our policy to other clubs and invite them to report perpetrators of any form of racial abuse by any Ayr United fan(s) when visiting their stadiums
- Encourage a common strategy between stewards and police for dealing with racist abuse
- Any racist graffiti that may appear at the ground be removed immediately and action taken against the perpetrators as per action point 1
- Adopt an equal opportunities policy in relation to employment and service provision
- Contact local community groups and organizations, local authority with a view to co-ordinate a community anti-racism package for schools and the wider community
