Ayr United –McDonalds Super Festival

13/06/2008

Ayr United –McDonalds Super Festival

Wednesday 7th May was a day to remember for the Ayr United Community Football Programme.
Scotland Legend ,Kenny Dalgleish visited Somerset Park , Ayr to officially open the 1st McDonalds sponsored Football Festival.
Ayr was 1 of 4 venues this year to have Kenny Dalgleish visit their Festival. The backing of Ayr United FC and use of Somerset Park surley helped Kenny,s descison

Around 350 local school children enjoyed a day of Football Activity which included small sided games, skill zones and specially designed Football Inflatable’s.

The Festival marked the half way point in the on-going Schools football initiative. The Initiative involves 11 local schools receiving Football coaching from Ayr United community coaches. This initiative will be running for the next 3 years with the intention of all primary schools receiving Quality Football Coaching within that 3 year period

Thanks must go to McDonalds & the SFA for their funding contribution as well as the support received on the day. In addition all schools including pupils, teachers, head teachers and assistants should be commended for their continual support as without this Kenny Dalgleish and the many players wouldn’t have enjoyed a wonderful football experience.
