23/07/2010
Manager Brian Reid has added two new faces to his squad this week and resigned a favourite from last season.
Mark Roberts has rejoined the club till the end of the season along with Chris Smith from Dumbarton and Scott McLaughlin from Airdrie United.
We are also delighted to announce that Mark has been made club captain with Martyn Campbell as his assistant. Manager Brian Reid commented " Marko is an excellent pro who is a great example to our young players, he has kept himself in excellent shape and is well liked and respected by everyone at the club". "I am confident both he and Martyn will do a great job in the season ahead"
After signing Mark said "It was no secret that I wanted to stay at the club and im delighted to have gotten everything sorted out, being made club captain helped with that and im looking forward to the new season", "If we can add another 4 or 5 to what we already have then I think we have a real chance", "If we get a settled team and stay as clear as possible from injury then im confident we can match anyone in this division".
21 year old Chris Smith joins the club from Dumbarton following a compensation fee being agreed by both clubs. Chris played with Partick Thistle and Rangers at youth level before racking up 54 first team apperances at Greenock Morton and Dumbarton. On the new signing the manager said " Chris is a young lad but has been in first team football for two full seasons, he is strong and can play as either a left back or centre half and im delighted to get him on board".
The latest to sign is former Airdrie United player Scott McLaughlin, despite interest from several clubs scott has signed till the end of the season and manger Brian Reid was delighted to capture his signing " Scott is a quality player who im confident will fit in well, he's still only 26 but has good experience and a couple of winners medals to his name".
All three players go straight into the squad for the Alba challenge cup tie versus Airdrie United at Recreation Park. Dean Keenan will miss out following his red card last week however William Easton is available. Steven McKeown is rated as doubtful due to illness. |
